Our inspiration for the masks came about due to two of our group members who both do A level art, Megan and Hannah. Due to their artistic nature they suggested we make the masks for Finn and potentially also for her friend. The task of making the masks was left to Megan and Hannah due to their superior artistic ability. The two decided that the optimal method of making the masks would be through the use of papier mâché as it is easiest to mold, shape and also acquire. The two split the work on the blue head between them, Hannah constructed the basic framework out of cardboard which had minor flaws which was then rectified by the two at a later date. Megan then proceeded to cover the framework in papier mâché, once it had dried to two applied a white layer of paint to cover over all of the newspaper print. Once the first layer had dried, Hannah then added eyes and a mouth to the mask by sticking shaped polystyrene to it. Once the polystyrene features had been secured, Hannah finished off the mask by painting the features in appropriate colours and painted the head blue.
